Find your CD drive

cdrecord --devices

Burn your CD

cdrecord -v --dev='/dev/sg1' ~/Downloads/ubuntu-12.04-beta1-alternate-amd64.iso

Many thumb drives are formatted with FAT32, making the maximum file size just shy 4GB. If you need to copy a large file like this to a thumb drive, follow the instructions below.

First, you should check to be sure that you have the same wireless card (BCM4306 rev 02) that I do using the lspci command:

Earlier this week, a couple of co-workers and I somehow got onto the topic of school songs.

I still had a copy of a small portion of the song from the 'mines.pl' t-shirt that was popular with computer science majors; however, I wanted to find the rest of the song. It took a little digging, but I was eventually able to find a cached copy of the song from the old CSM Alumni site. I thought I would post a copy online to make it easier for anyone else who may be looking for a copy.

Bash unfortunately does not include a built-in function to test if a variable is an integer. There is however a simple pattern matching hack that you can use to test this on your own:

Check for Unsigned Integer

[[ $number =~ ^[0-9]+$ ]] && echo -e "match found : integer\n"

Check for Signed Integer

[[ $number =~ ^[+-]?[0-9]+$ ]] && echo -e "match found : (signed) integer\n"
